The stars have aligned this weekend, which is chockablock with great shows in New England. If you are in the Peterborough, NH area, please don't think twice about showing up at The Wreck Room (at La Mia Casa Pizza) for a Doomwytch Productions presentation of Sassus Wunnu, Psycho, Cactus Hag, and Makavrah, live and pummeling your eardrums. Swanzey's trio of blackened doom prophets, Sassu Wunnu, never fails to draw the curtains and invite the audience to descend, trudge after sludgy trudge, into a northern New England catacomb of no return. Boston's veteran band of all things punk, grind, speed, and foul, Psycho, will lay waste to the Wreck in precipitous fashion. The doom of Dover, Cactus Hag has the power to capture the souls of their audience and condemn them to trace slow, endless spirals of crushing sound for eternity. Local Peterborough doom foursome Makavrah open the evening's solemn rites with ageless, apocalyptic proclamations from the distorted, suffocating, black depths of the northern Atlantic Ocean.
It's fun for the entire family! No, really: this is an all ages show, although attendees who wish to imbibe alcoholic beverages will be obligated to show a valid photo ID (21+). Doors open at 8 PM to the tune of $5 per person, and you meet your sonic fate at 9 PM. Come out and do it for the children (of the damned)! See the official Facebook event page for up-to-date and complete show information. This week on Dandycast Radio, we feel the need to show you our biggest, purplest balls yet with new music from A God or an Other, Abrahma, Abrams, Angakok, Ashtar, Barbarian Fist, Black Capricorn, Decoherent, Demon Lung, Dopethrone, Fight Amp, Fusskalt, Galvano, Gorgantherron, Helgamite, High on Fire, King Bison, King Giant, Lucifer, Mist, Monolord, Niah, Night Bitch, Ooze, Plaguewielder, Rhino King, Righteous Bloom, Rozamov, Sideburn, Skeleton Gong, Sombra, Valkyrie, and Wicked Inquisition.. We'll also spin music from artists performing at upcoming local shows, including Bedroom Rehab Corporation, Black Friday, Cactus Hag, Epicenter, Faces of Bayon, Fog Wizard, Fórn, Graviton, Lobotomobile, Makavrah, The Melvins, The Moulten Llama, Psycho, Sassu Wunnu, Scalpel, Windhand, Wormwood, and Wrought Iron Hex. Our lack of Blatter control compels us to include huge, round tunes from Clamfight, Colossus, Conclave, Ichabod, Mind Over Master, and Wizard Eye on the program as well.
Tune in Thursday, June 18 @ 9 PM EDT at dandycastradio.weebly.com! \m/
Friday, June 19, Sammy's Patio in Revere, MA will play host to a joint Metal New England and Killer Robot Productions show entitled "Wicked Pissa Metal Night," featuring Fog Wizard, Wicked Inquisition (on tour from Minneapolis, MN), Faces of Bayon, Lobotomobile (from Keene, NH), Epicenter (from Pelham, NH), and Graviton. This event promises to uphold the tradition at Sammy's of presenting a variety of different heavy metal acts on the same bill. Members of Fog Wizard have indicated that this might be their last show before a hiatus of indefinite length, so concert-goers still on the fence should consider attending this event to sate their bloodthirst for "Boston's Bloodiest Band." Tell the personnel at the door that Captain Motherfucker sent you, but be sure to place special emphasis on "Captain" to avoid getting thrown out before gaining admittance. Wicked Inquisition released their self-titled debut album in early May, so be sure to audition their new tunes and pick up a CD at the show. Faces of Bayon, who continue their unofficial residence at Sammy's on Friday, are perennial audience favorites with a sound almost too heavy for the relatively small venue. They have been playing new doomy material--some of which will appear on their forthcoming second album--practically every time they have played this stage over the past few months, and that should be reason enough to catch their set this Friday. Two New Hampshire bands, Lobotomobile and Epicenter, will provide contrast with the sludge and doom-laden bands mentioned above. Keene's Lobotomobile perform an eclectic, theatrical, horror-steeped heavy metal experience that must be seen and heard to be believed. Epicenter, based in Pelham, execute highly technical, thrash metal acrobatics that will get your blood pumping (in preparation for seeing it splattered later during Fog Wizard's set). Rounding out the bill, a relatively new act named Graviton, hailing from Townsend, MA, will also raise your heart rate with their brand of angular, death-inflected metal.
It sounds as if Sammy's will be hopping—and headbanging and thrashing about—again this Friday. Festivities will begin at 8 PM, and doors will be opened to you for $10 and the presentation of valid photo ID for this 21+ show. Saturday, June 20, Fat Togue Music and Ralph's Rock Diner present The Moulten Llama, recent Whalie Award recipients Bedroom Rehab Corporation, Wrought Iron Hex, and Black Friday. The show features four very different bands who run the gamut from stoner rock to bass-and-drums sludge to hard and classic rock, so there should be something to satisfy all tastes on this bill. Please bear in mind that this is a 21+ show and valid photo ID will be required to gain entry. Doors open at 8:30 PM, and music starts promptly at 9 PM.
See the Facebook event page for complete and up-to-date show information. This move has been long overdue. Dandycast Radio has needed to improve its presence on the Interwebs for some time, and so we're giving this new site a go. We hope that
A. You won't mind our using the royal "We" 2. This site will prove more aesthetically pleasing than either Facebook or the Caster.fm site due to the near absence of ads. Enjoy and visit as often as you like! |
